Undergraduate Support

Writing support for current undergraduate students

The UC Davis Writing Center helps undergraduate students — across all majors, skill levels and during any stage of the writing process — establish and improve their understanding of academic writing. We also help with personal statements, graduate school and fellowship applications, professional documents, honors theses, research posters and oral presentations.

Writing Center peer consultants are students just like you. They come from a variety of UC Davis majors and programs, including STEM, social sciences, and the humanities, and they participate in ongoing peer mentor education that is informed by writing center studies. They are non-judgmental peers who like to talk to other people about writing.

Peer writing consultants can help writers brainstorm ideas, strengthen claims and evidence, expand ideas and polish final drafts. Unsure of assignment expectations? No problem — peer consultants can help break down assignment sheets and professor feedback. Peer consultants can also help students navigate new writing situations and genres. We know writing can cause some anxiety, so we have strategies to help mitigate anxiety and promote sustainable writing practices.
