Matthew Stratton is a Professor of Teaching and has worked in the English Department at UC Davis since 2008. He is responsible for directing all of the work in the Writing Center, whether helping students work through an essay in an undergraduate course, meeting the variety of writing requirements across campus, or starting and finishing that Master's thesis or PhD dissertation. He was a first-generation-to-college student who is proudly involved with the First-Generation Initiative. For teaching classes on literary theory, U.S. literature and film (especially of the 1930s), literature and politics, African-American literature, the graphic novel, satire, and critical writing, he once received the UC Davis Distinguished Teaching Award for Undergraduate Teaching.
